Pilars Martini & Loft and Garden Theatre is thrilled to present the newest offering in Historic Downtown Winter Garden Plant Street Pops!  The inaugural season welcomes back Grammy-winning Conductor/Performer/Host Matt Catingub and Grammy-nominated world-renowned drummer/percussionist Steve Moretti, and vocalist Michelle Amato, along with the premier season of the Plant Street Pops Big Band under the direction of Per Danielssen.

Matt Catingub's latest, and perhaps most meaningful project is FROM SAMOA TO SINATRA.  The CD/Recording honors the musical legacy of both Frank Sinatra along with his mother Mavis Rivers and can currently be heard on Sirius XM's "Siriusly Sinatra" channel.  It will be a wonderful evening of stories and a swinging journey of standards, jazz & Sinatra in honor of Matt’s “Mommy”, Mavis Rivers the first female signed to Frank Sinatra’s Reprise Records label.  This show recently sold out at the legendary Herb Albert's Vibrato Club in Los Angeles and Pilars Martini & Loft and Garden Theatre are proud to bring this heartwarming and joyful show to Plant Street Pop Series for one show only.

More about MATT CATINGUB "FROM SAMOA TO SINATRA"

This is the ultimate tribute from son (Matt) to and WITH his mother, Mavis Rivers, the first female signed to Frank Sinatra’s Reprise Records label…Nominated as Best New Artist at the very first Grammy Awards, Mavis Rivers career was Landmark. After the nomination, and after recording three acclaimed LPs for the Capitol Records label, her label mate Frank Sinatra decided to create Reprise Records. The very first female vocalist he signed, whom Sinatra nicknamed his “Swinging Lady”, was Samoan-born Mavis Rivers. As a result, Mavis entered the studio in the late 1960s to record what would be one of the first three initial releases on Sinatra’s Reprise Records. Amazingly, Mavis at the time was very pregnant (with MATT); you’ll hear those vocals on this recording!  Included  in the recording are favorites like “It Don’t Mean A Thing  (If It Ain’t Got That Swing)”, “People Will Say We’re In Love” “The Best Is Yet To Come” and many more.
